| - | + | I spprout the above mentioned ?River Terrace Pedestrian Deck and Grand Stair ; however, I don't feel that the Farview Land bridge should necessarily be scaled down because of it. If there is to be a pathway that follows the current 27th Avenue from Farview Hill to the Mississippi, it would feel and seem to be an uninterrupted park like experience if the freeway were bridged for a larger expanse so that one does not even have the sense that they are atop of a freeway. It has been such a disservice to North Minneapolis neighborhoods that we are nearly on the banks of the Mississippi and yet have so many barriers and so little access. All the while, other areas of the city have for many, many years benefitted tremendously from their access to water amenities. Finally, we have a plan to reconnect North Minneapolis to the riverfront and this early on we are already experiencing commentary to scale back as if we are asking for too much, hoping too much, envisioning too much. I disagree. I completely understand that there are times and necessities for scaling back; however, I feel strongly that if any aspect of the plan should NOT be scaled back, it would be those aspects that are related to creating connections with North Minneapolis neighborhoods. These neighborhoods have suffered too much and for too long. | |
